I was born in Dublin, Ireland, and am the youngest in our house. We were wealthy in the community sense and I literally was raised by the village. My playground was on our local streets; our neighbours were our eyes and ears to the world. We did not have much, but we had each other...and sports.
Our go-to sports were Football (Soccer ), Gaelic and Rugby. I was handy enough at all of those sports and got to play them at a good level.
I was brought up with a keen sense of social justice, and that has never left me. Give everyone an opportunity. Give everyone a voice.
I am a proud migrant who holds dual Irish Australian citizenship.
I have enjoyed an extensive career in the tourism and hotel industry and in private enterprise. I know what it is like to be a small business owner and the challenges they face.
I have a fabulous wife, two amazing children, and two lovely dogs.
I am passionate about men's health, and I am the co-host of the Northbridge Mens Table.
I believe in action, getting things done, and protecting the interests of those who do not have a strong voice in the Council.
I have lived in Willoughby with my family for 7 years and on the lower North shore for 24 years. My daughter attends high school locally, and I work closely alongside businesses in the Willoughby council area.
With a Diploma in Fashion Design, years spent running my own manufacturing and retail business, and experience in interior design, I currently work as an account manager for a textile company. I enjoy servicing and fostering relationships with retail businesses located in Willougby, Chatswood, Artarmon, Naremburn and Northbridge.
On weekends you will find me courtside at the Bicentennial netball courts supporting WGHS netball association and watching my daughter coach and play netball. Strolling to support the local French Markets and bushwalking along the tracks to Tunks Park and Artarmon Reserve.
I am passionate about supporting local and family businesses, road safety particularly surrounding school areas, the performing arts and the design community. Along with being an advocate for our local bushland and sustainability within our community.
William (Bill) May – I have lived in Willoughby (4 years) and currently Northbridge (44 years). Now retired but previously graduated from the University of NSW (Commerce Marketing) and worked primarily for Ford Motor Company, St George and Westpac Banks.
I’m Still a very active member of Northbridge Golf Club (since 2008, including a period as a Director) and North’s Gym.
It is a pleasure to be part of “Roy’s Team” where there is a concentration on the key elements of Council integrity, family, community, small business and of course “Roads, Rates and Rubbish”.
It would be an honour to represent you.
I have been a Northbridge resident for forty years. Now retired, I spent my working life as a Medical Scientist, firstly in pathology laboratories in Australia and overseas, and later teaching pathology technicians haematology and microbiology. I graduated with a BAppSc and a Dip Ed in the eighties.
I've been a member of Northbridge golf course for 17 years and have spent many hours planting gardens to beautify the landscape.
I have many hobbies that include playing bridge, and going to the theatre and opera.
Born in Turkey in 1961 to a Berliner Mutti and Sydney Irish Aussie father, both parents of whom were educators in Spain and the USA. Doug’s triple citizenry of American/ German and Australian identities has led to a diverse and accomplished life spanning two continents.
After growing up in the Northeast Hartford Connecticut, I pursued a degree in education, driven by a passion for helping others to learn and grow.
My short early career as a high school teacher in the US was marked by innovative teaching methods and a knack for connecting with students. However, an entrepreneurial spirit led me to explore opportunities beyond the classroom and travel to S. America and elsewhere.
In my mid-30s, took a leap of faith and moved to Philippines, where there was the potential for educational technology. Over the next two decades, Doug founded and led several successful ed-tech and telco startups, bridging my expertise in education with emerging technologies.
His ventures ranged from online learning platforms to educational innovation always with a focus on making quality education more accessible. Known for his forward-thinking approach and ability to anticipate educational trends, he became a respected figure in both the Philippine and American ed-tech scenes, helping to found a small Waldorf-type school in the Philippines.
Now living in Willoughby while semi-retired, I continue to learn, read tirelessly about new ideas fascinates with ways to improve society and discover new thinkers while taking care of our 88 year Aussie dad afflicted with MSA, a rare autoimmune condition and supporting our four children.
My journey from teacher to entrepreneur illustrates the power of imagination in following one's passions and embracing new challenges, regardless of age or location.
Chris has been a long-term resident of Willoughby LGA since June 1986, firstly in Castlecrag and since 1995, in Northbridge or Castlecrag. He is a chartered accountant of many years standing having worked, virtually exclusively, in various aspects of commercial real estate. Chris believes there is an obvious lack of financial accountability / responsibility in recent decisions taken by council management and council generally. The latest example of this is the 15% rate increase (inflation circa 4-5%) levied on local residents.
Chris is proud to be on Councillor Roy McCullagh's team as he believes in getting things done, and Roy has demonstrated consistently that he gets results for the community.
